I agree that there should be a standard across the world for protecting your hearing at workplaces as it should be mandatory for these companies to do so. I say this because I was a Tinnitus sufferer for over 5 years and tried natural treatments and luckily it worked for me but its not something you want to go through especially getting at no fault of your own.
Great Article.

Cheers,
Dave

This is an interesting article. Its true that our hearing system is delicate and need to be taken care properly. It is important to understand ways to protect our hearing as most of the times people don't realize that they are experiencing hearing loss or other problem such as tinnitus until the symptoms is quite bad.

Dear Gerald, much time has passed since you kindly gave me your book Gut Horen Heute und Morgen in 2000. I believe it was in the NATO Conference at the German Defence Institute. I have looked you up to seek your wise advice on a noise damage issue. Would it be possible for you to make contact so that we may talk please.
Kind regards
Stewart

A very informative site delivered in laymans language. As a cochlear implant user I have an interest in the plasticity of the auditory cortex in adults over 50 yrs of age. Can the brain re-educate itself to electronic auditory stimulation 5 years after 95% depravation? How long does it take a new born's brain to build up sufficient stored data to understand the complexity of speech? There is so much to learn about the perception of hearing. Deafness disconnects you from people! Verbal communication is the cornerstone of society.

Dear Hearing Blog Person,
I am so grateful to have found your blog.
Please, have you anything in your research on the development of the ear in the embryo, baby, toddler and young child, up to ........(when..???) which shows the effect of ipods into
young developing ears.
I am very interested to know if there are scientists researching this new phenomena of our techno-society, where people stick ear buds from ipods into the developing brain/hearing area of toddlers and children's heads.
Please keep up your excellent work.

I really like your figures; issues surrounding noise and sound are really difficult to illustrate graphically.
